Biography of the director and producer

Director Aida Schlaepfer was born in Baghdad to a Lebanese mother and an Iraqi father, and spent her childhood living between her parents’ homelands. At the age of 20, she moved to Europe, where she studied German for several years before eventually settling in Switzerland. Always interested in film and arts despite having been graduate as an accountant and business manager, Aida earned a degree in Art and Media Design at F+F Schule für Kunst und Mediendesign in Zurich. In 2003, she moved to Egypt to attend the High Cinema Institute at the prestigious Academy of Arts in Cairo, earning a post-graduate diploma in Film Directing.

Aida has several films and advertisements to her credit, including “Shadow Black and White” (2001) Video, “Silent Screening inside a Woman” (2002) Video, “East and West Dancing” (2003) Video, “Marionette” (2005) 35mm, educational film created in 2006 for the German School in Cairo, “Gangs of Baghdad”(2007)HD Doc., “Homeland” (2010) DVC Doc., “Ana Esmy Mwaten Masry, my name is Egyption Citizens” HD Egypt Doc (2011), “To be we also want to be” HD Swiss Doc. (2013), “NouN” Iraq Doc.(2015).

Biography of the Assistant Producer

Naoures Rouissi is a cultural manager and film festival programmer who graduated from HEC Carthage. She previously worked as an auditor at PwC Tunisia and served as the CEO of a group of enterprises before transitioning to the cinema industry. Since 2015, she has been the Head of the Film Department and Programming for both Carthage Film Festival and Manarat Film Festival for multiple editions. Rouissi holds a master’s degree in Cultural Policy and Cultural Management from the University of Hassan II in Morocco and the University of Hildesheim in Germany, in collaboration with the UNESCO Chair on Economics of Culture and Heritage. Additionally, she holds a second master’s degree in “World Heritage and Cultural Projects for Development” from the University of Torino and Politecnico Di Torino.

Amal Fawzy is a journalist and filmmaker. BA in Mass Communication, Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University. CTAFL Certificate of Teaching Arabic as Foreign Language, AUC-American University in Cairo. Journalist at Sabah El Kheir Magazine in Egypt, researcher and director of five documentaries, which obtained national awards. Studied Life Coaching & Information Industry. Amal works as a Women Empowerment Coach.
